FBA design showcased at Fraunhofer CBP opening

Co-developed with c3house technologies and the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials, an FBA designed natural fibre composite prototype was shown at the opening of Fraunhofer Institute’s Center for Chemical-Biotechnological Processes CBP in Leuna (Germany). Visitors included German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Saxony-Anhalt’s Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff.

Together with c3house technologies and the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials, FBA have been developing a composite building material made from natural fibres and a series of implementations in prototype projects. Basic, naturally available ingredients such as hemp fibres (or other, locally available natural fibres) are turned into high-performance materials and then further processed into sandwich panels that show extremely advantageous characteristics, both structurally and environmentally. The current prototypes examine small-scale applications using the natural composite panels for modular building processes.
