Music & Space: Workshop in Yonesaki

Rikuzen-Takata, Iwate Prefecture, Japan, 2011

As part of a series of workshops at schools in the Tohoku area that was devastated by the March 2011 tsunami, FBA together with Korean performers noridan went to the elementary school of Yonesaki, a small town near Rikuzentakata in Iwate Prefecture.

Empty PET bottles became instruments; together with the 30 fifth-graders, music became space.

The result was exhibited at Tokyo Designers week, when 200 distinctly tuned PET bottles were turned into one large instrument that could be played by everyone.
