Geocoque

2003—

Sports stadia are notoriously faced with a dichotomy between structural monotony and programmatic dysfunction. As part of a series of studies addressing this dilemma, the Geocoque project exploits the advantages of structural optimisation to overcome monotonous repetition and thereby strengthen the stadium’s essential magic bowl atmosphere. Structural optimisations generate the necessary local variations to stretch the geometry to the boundaries of what is buildable. The outcome is a messenger from a future time.
