Arigato – Tokyo Designers Week 2011

Excerpts from the book:

“On March 11, 2011 a devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit northeastern Japan causing catastrophic damage”.

“Arigato means thank you. This book serves to express heartfelt gratitude for the support and kindness received from around the world in response to this natural disaster. While doing so, it documents compelling creativity by professional designers, students, and talented amateurs generated through the Arigato Project in disciplines including product design, architecture, fashion design, music, photography, and urban development”.

“In addition, the book documents the art events and workshops that took place in the affected region and gave its people the chance to work through their traumatic experiences or simply to find a bit of happiness through creativity”.

  • As Creative Director of Tokyo Designers Week 2011, FBA supported the organisers’ efforts in what would become the Arigato Project, a series of workshops and projects using the power of the creative field to help the disaster stricken Tohoku area. The results of these workshops and projects became part of the Designers Week in Tokyo. A meticulous documentation of the Arigato Project, the book Arigato also gives an insight into FBA’s design of Tokyo Designers Week 2011.
